Does anyone remember being off school during the summer holidays in the lates 60s/early 70s watching short, interlude type films on BBC2? There were about 4 or 5 of them, that would be repeated every so often, and included:

One about one life and culture of the Nordic countries, maybe Sweden

One about illustrating medieval manuscripts and the materials that were used

One, and I seem to remember this one being black and white, about a man's journey home to his wife. Think this one was either unspoken, or in Italian

There were others I think too, but these three stick in my mind, and I remember being quite fixated and entertained by them.

Would you be referring to the trade test transmission films by any chance. I dont recall any of the fllms you mention but I watched many of the trade test transmission films. There is a thread on trade transmission films, have a look at the posts on that and you may find these films mentioned in some of the posts.

Yes, yes, yes. Found the following site that lists them all!

405 Alive - Information - A to Z Index of BBC-2 Trade Test Colour Films

The ones I remember, detailed in my post, are: A Place to Live, Paint and Cantagallo

I also remember Crown of Glass about Liverpool Cathedral, and most of the ones produced by Shell. Terrific!

    Thank you.

Some of these Trade Test Films are available from a member of this site, I purchased some a while back at a very reasonable cost. Unfortunately I can't remember his name

I thought I was being a bid 'sad' googling these films! I didn't expect anyone else to remember them (or CARE about them) but I have some great memories of watching these films - being very young (5 or 6) - and distinctly remember a film in Italian which really captured my imagination. I'd LOVE to be able to see them again . . .
