Default Answered: The Golden Disc *solved*

Hi. I've just joined this forum. I am no expert on British films but I do think they are the best. My main reason for joining was to pick your collective brains regarding a 50's or early 60's movie about some young people trying to get a recording studio off the ground. I think the title had something to do with a gold record but I could be wrong. I'd like to find out about it as I saw a clip on youtube showing them recording a jazz number featuring two old friends of mine namely drummer Phil Seaman and tenor sax player Don Rendel. It was quite a suprise to see this as I thought that no footage existed. The person that posted the clip could not help very much. hoping that someone out there can. Any help at all would be appreciated.

I think this could be The Golden Disc (1958) which starred Lee Patterson and introduced 1950s pop idol Terry Dene. Don Rendell's Six was one of the many acts featured.

Start every day with a smile and get it over with.

Default Terry dene

Yes that was the film, Joenoir. I recall it because of one Terry Dene, who was turned down for military service because of some "ailment", some say it was his voice. Whilst we had to go and do our bit. he was not flavour of the month in the world of National Service.

(Don't feel sorry for Kelp... he's probably whiling away his leisure time with leggy Vegas models, stretched out, showing off their respective scars! ha ha)

"This was from saving Elvis that time..."

"Both of these were from that mad summer with Nicole..."

"Mel would have needed to wear blue paint for the whole shoot if I hadn't taken that errant spear..."

"Helen B still says this is her favorite scar on me..."

"Those heelmarks? Yes, some women just can't get enough of walking all over me..."

(Gee - who could he mean with THAT remark?!!)

None! In fact, I'd be surprised if I can't make up even juicier secrets without any need for pesky facts.

Possibly his teeth from the picture I've got of him........

Poor Terry. I'd never heard of him and in an old mag he was bleating on about being dead famous one minute and forgotten the next. I got really bored and turned the pages. Next time I browse that mag I shall read with renewed vigour. Thanks Kelp.....
