Question Unanswered: 3 Half remembered ghostly plays!

Vague recollections of 3 plays, possibly from the same series aired in (I think) 1970's. Can anyone help with titles or info?

1. Couple buy a cottage in the woods - ghostly happenings - discover the mummified body of a cat bricked up in said cottage to ward off evil!

2. (Modern times) Child asleep in bedroom at night. Is woken up by the sound of children playing outside in the street. Opens window and sees in the moonlight several children dressed in Victorian costumes skipping and playing with a hoop, singing "Boys and girls come out to play, the moon doth shine as bright as day", beckoning the boy to come and join them!! (At this point I remember going all shivery as these children are all obviously long dead!!)

3. This one sounds a bit barmy but I remember a play with the central 'prop' being a brass Victorian fireman's helmet that appears and disappears - Ghostly goings on!

Thanx in advance!

Could be the Ghost Story for Christmas series, though I'm only guessing.

1 Sounds like "Baby" from Nigel Kneal's series "Beasts"
"Beasts" Baby (1976)

2 Reminds me of one of the Sapphire and Steel adventures or possibly an episode of "Shadows"?

Pretty sure I'm right with 1 though

Hi lostintown,
I followed your link to "Beasts" Baby episode and YES, your right - that's the one. Reading about that series saw a mention of (the rabbit) "Brightway Billy" which I now recall!

No. 2 - You might be right about "Sapphire & Steel"......the episode that sticks in my mind is the railway station full of WWI soldiers arriving by a crack in time!

TTFN, Ray

Does BOYS AND GIRLS COME OUT TO PLAY still exist? The only MENACE episode I own is the excellent, peerless KILLING TIME with George Cole and Annette Crosbie, but I'd love to see some more.

"Whatever happened to Fay Wray?"

is that the one that ends with a pregnant woman hearing strange noises in the night walks down stairs to investigate and see's this horrible apparition on a setee and consequently looses her child
(one of the most horrifying plays i have seen)

An outside chance here, but could the 'Fireman's Helmet' one be The Clifton House Mystery; it isn't a Fireman's helmet but a similar looking 1830's fur-plumed dragoon's helmet.....the Mystery being the 1830's dragoon still there in a bricked up room......

Bit of a Bay Window, what??

Do you know Penfold, you could be right!!
It may very well have been a Dragoon's helmet. All I remember is that this brass helmet with a large badge on the front kept appearing......and I think somewhere in the play a photograph is discovered with a man wearing such a helmet
Many thanks, Ray
