Something to Hide (1972)
I came across this thread a few weeks ago and briefly revived it:
Something to Hide (1970) *solved* - Britmovie - British Film Forum
Still unavailable on DVD.![]()
Hope someone can help with this. I remember seeing a colour 60s (I think) British film on Channel 4 (I think) or BBC 2 in the early 80s. All I can remember is it was about a runaway girl who is taken in by an old man who lives in a shack by the sea. She has a miscarriage and he disposes of the baby's body (in a brazier?). From what I can remember it was a tremendously haunting film. I always assumed that the old man was played by a very well-known actor. Could be wrong. Whatever channel it was on they used to show two obscure films late at night – maybe shorts. I remember another film had a weird guy saying "I'd really rather not" a lot and driving someone else mad. Sorry to be so vague but hope someone can help.

Many thanks for getting back so fast – I've also just read Jack Gurney's excellent post here about it. Peter Finch... of course!
So, how do I change the heading to "Solved"?

There should be a 'Mark Best Answer' heading above all the posts you see here (in this case #2). All being well, it should go from Unanswered to Best Answer - "As if by magic"! - and 'Solved' comes up the next time you see the thread title. IF memory serves, that is. I've only had to do this once, with a film called The Frozen Dead.
Find the post which gave the best answer and click on where it says (Mark Best Answer)name='whatisart']So, how do I change the heading to "Solved"?

I like to use the word "automagically"

Hello Whatisart,
The second part of your question, about the character who keeps saying: "I'd prefer not to" (sic) - is from the 1970 movie BARTLEBY, starring John McEnery (although there are other versions of the film).
