Sailor Beware

Hi



I'm an avid collector of old British movies.



There is this one movie that I vaguely remember about a couple of guys coming back from the forces (I think I recall them having sailors uniforms). One of them is due to be married and the other is his best man. It's a typical working class family.



The brides family are intent on buying them a house nearby.



The father is busy tending to his garden throughout the movie (Roses I think).



I'm sure that at ther end of the movie someone dies.



I cant be sure but I think the movie was in b/w and looked like 1940/50's.



It's driving me crazy.. I've been trying to remember more about this movie for a couple of years.



Does it ring any bells with anyone?

Sounds very much like Sailor Beware - the good news is it's [ame="http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sailor-Beware-Peggy-Mount/dp/B000VGH50Q/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1245414589&sr=8-1"]available on dvd[/ame], plus it turns up on Film 4 quite frequently.

It sounds a lot like 'Sailor Beware' to me, as mentioned by Wadsy.



This is the one with Peggy Mount. I think it was Gordon Jackson who played the best man, but I can't remember the name of the groom. I'm fairly sure Shirley Eaton is in it too. I don't know if this is the film you're after, but I have seen it crop up on Channel 4 from time to time.
