Daniel Day-Lewis, the actor, is to receive the Richard Harris Award for Outstanding Contribution to British Film by an Actor at the British Independent Film Awards.
The two-time Oscar winner - star of blockbusters including THERE WILL BE BLOOD and GANGS OF NEW YORK - will be presented with the award at a ceremony on Dec 6. His British films include IN THE NAME OF THE FATHER, MY BEAUTIFUL LAUNDRETTE, and MY LEFT FOOT.
Leading the nominations for Best British Independent Film is Andrea Arnold's FISH TANK with eight nominations, followed by MOON with seven, and AN EDUCATION, IN THE LOOP and NOWHERE BOY, with six apiece.
