Bond soundtrack composer John Barry is to be honoured with a posthumous award at next month's Classic Brit Awards for his outstanding contribution to music...
It will be the first time that a posthumous prize has been presented since the awards were founded in 2000.
Dame Shirley Bassey will be among those taking part in a finale at the ceremony next month dedicated to Barry. She will perform a show-stopping rendition of Goldfinger.
In a celebration of his work, several of Barry's best-known themes will be performed by the London Chamber Orchestra and some of the UK's most celebrated classical performers...
His widow, Laurie, said: "John would be so honoured to be receiving the Outstanding Contribution to Music Award at the Classic Brit Awards."
The Event, hosted by Myleene Klass, takes place at the Royal Albert Hall, on Thursday, May 12, and will be broadcast later by ITV1.
The venue will also host a memorial concert to celebrate Barry's life on June 20, with profits benefiting the newly-established John Barry Scholarship for Film Composition at London's Royal College of Music.
