It is with great pleasure that The Fan Museum welcomes a bona fide British screen legend: the incomparable Rita Tushingham. Beginning her career as a stage actress at the Liverpool Playhouse, it was not long before Rita took a starring role in the BAFTA award-winning film, A Taste of Honey (1961). Playing Jo (Josephine), her performance in this gritty 'kitchen sink' drama was such that she won a much coveted Best Actress award at the 1962 Cannes Film Festival. The global success of A Taste of Honey ignited her career in film and television and Rita went on to star in films such as The Leather Boys (1962), Girl With Green Eyes (1963), Doctor Zhivago (1965), Smashing Time (1967) and more recently, the box office smash Being Julia (2004).
Rita Tushingham will be in conversation with the distinguished writer and radio presenter Richard Holliss, and will also answer questions from the audience, so please join us for what promises to be a uniquely entertaining and memorable event.
