Today 18th June, in Beverly Hills but there are two more auctions for all the famous costumes and showbiz artifacts Debbie Reynolds has collected over the years, including Audrey Hepburn's Ascot gown, Marilyn Monroe's subway dress, Dorothy's first red shoes, and thousands of other items:

I never thought she would ever part with any of that fabulous collection, let alone all of it. It's been her passion for so long. Still, I suppose when you're pushing 80 you want to do a bit of culling.

Nice to see Mitzi Gaynor in that video.

Thanks for that, Barbara! Wish I could just pop over to Beverly Hills!

    Mitzi Gaynor looks incredible!

Saw Debbie in her live show last year - an interesting lady. I hope the costumes go to a good home which appreciates them.

    Hi, Shirl and Didi:

Mitzi Gaynor did look wonderful. I'll bet she still works out like a true dancer.

If I were a billionaire, I could easily bid on many of those items: Audrey's Ascot dress which I have never forgotten and so many others.

I admire Debbie for keeping the faith for 50 years in preserving these items and trying so hard to find a place for them. Given all the rich stars, one would think they could buy a modest place for these historic items and open it for paid viewing which would defray a good part of the cost and a tax deduction for the rest.

    Best,

    Barbara

But will whoever buys it be able to wear it as well as Marilyn did?

Someone in the BBC article is quoted as saying ""totally crazy, especially in this recession". Are people really that ignorant of how much richer the rich have been getting since the recession?
