No doubt to be followed by a world tour like they did with the digitally restored print of The Red Shoes and then probably DVD & Blu-Ray releases.
This is the digitally restored print sponsored by Scorsese's Film Foundation where, like they did with The Red Shoes they went all the way back to the original negatives, digitised them at a very high resolution and cleaned them up frame by frame - and there are 3 times as many frames on a 3 strip Technicolor film that there are on any other film of the same length.
The results for The Red Shoes were stunning, we expect that the results for Blimp will be just as good

Thats one for the blu ray collection when available.
Going to the Avengers special at the Barbican that night but looking forward to the restored DVD release.
On 30 November it'll be presented by Martin Scorsese & Thelma Schoonmaker - so tickets sold out very quickly. But I expect that it will be shown again at the NFT and various other cinemas around the country and around the world.
It's best to see it in a cinema on as big as screen as possible. That's how films like that were made to be seen. Watching it on DVD or Blu-Ray just isn't the same

Yes I am aware of that Steve - I got the email as a BFI member. Just so happens I am already booked elsewhere. Not everyone will be able to get to a screening and I take it there will be a DVD release as there was with The Red Shoes for those who wish to view the restoration in their own homes for whatever reason!
My old video copy of Colonel Blimp is pretty good, great colours, and very clear, so now it has been restored it will be fantastic. Can't wait for it to come out on dvd. Wish I could get to the BFI to see it, as Steve said, nothing like seeing these films on the big screen, but at the moment this is impossible for me.
I'm not sure any prints still exist of that one - luckily. Remember that he saw it in B&W as well, on TV. But even in the much shortened version and in B&W he realised that it was something special. He knew that it was originally in colour because there were credits mentioning Technicolor.
When he first saw it he wasn't even sure if P&P were really two different people
