Dear All,
On Sunday 2nd March at Pinewood Studios, The British Comedy Society will be unveiling a plaque in honour of James Robertson Justice. Some of JRJ's old friends and colleagues will be in attendance and it should be a really good afternoon. After the unveiling ceremony, we will be launching my biography on JRJ, "What's The Bleeding Time?". The British Comedy Society have told me that all are welcome at the event so I thought I'd put the details on the Britmovie forum. I hope you don't mind. If anyone's interested in attending then please drop me a line. Cheers! Hoggers |

Evening Stevie, I was only 3 when JRJ died. I'm sort of glad I didn't meet him really. You know what they say, 'you should never meet your hero's'... The poor old boy died in 1975 following a series of strokes. He was made bankrupt a few years prior to his death and passed away penniless, whilst living in a cottage that belonged to an old friend. He didn't have any grandchildren, just a son. Unfortunately he died in a drowning accident back in 1949. He was only 4.. All very sad, but I'm pleased to say that despite these episodes he led a VERY full and on the whole happy life! |

I'm glad to hear that his friends helped him - says a lot about him. One Irina's obits had stated that he ended up in council accomodation. I'm glad that wasn't true.

I have just watched The Iron Petticoat which was on tv recently.I always remembered it as a pretty dire film.I had forgotten that JRJ and David Kossoff where in it.Frankly they were the only good things in a film which has dated very badly.Looking at IMB apparently some twit from the US actually got involved in a bidding war to buy this.Frankly i would pay someone to take this away! However JRJ was one of my favourites and i will definately be buying this book.

I suggest that you look at ther Premiereship Table before putting foot in mouth. If that is a "debacleŁ then give it to me all the time!

Hi Hoggers
Can anyone just turn up at Pinewood for the book launch and plaque unveiling. If so what time is due to happen, the cost of the book and who has been invited. Thanks Reed_Carol |

I really enjoy JRJ in most of the films that I have seen him in.
As a matter of interest, I just found a 1960s documentary that he narrates and briefly appears in called THE TARTANS OF SCOTLAND. It's a curious piece from director Austin Campbell with lots of brooding landscape shots and bagpipes! Woth seeing for JRJ appearance. Playing himself, he meets up with an exiled American Scot. I've just put it up for sale on Ebay if anyone is interested. I dont have video to dvd copying facilities so would have made a copy for anyone interested. |

The Massacre of Glencoe documentary (1971) is very hard to watch. It was filmed not long after he'd had a stroke and you can really tell. He's all over the place. Very sad.. |

Pleased to report that Hoggers' JRJ event at Pinewood this afternoon was supremely successful. Though (by his own admission) James was absolutely petrified - or other words to that effect - a crowd of (around 70?) family, friends and complete strangers were behind him all the way and 'our' Hoggers rose to the occasion and was on great form.
The assembled company was treated to snippets and teasers of anecdotes from the book throughout a post-lunch Q&A session which was graced by the presence of the wonderful Muriel Pavlow, who had unveiled a blue plaque to JRJ to open the ceremonies earlier in the day. The book itself looks like it is going to be a cracking read ! Congratulations James, and here's to the next tome... ![]() Smudge
