14th Bradford International Film Festival (29 Feb - 15 Mar) - Britmovie

The 14th Bradford International Film Festival is on between 29 February and 15 March at the National Media Museum in Bradford, West Yorkshire.

Full disclosure - I work in promoting the museum online - but even if you ignore my marketing spiel it's definitely worth attending if you can. Personally I'll try and get to one of Palin's talks, some of the Leslie Norman films, Powell's Honeymoon and The Spy Who Loved Me (for kitsch value).

Highlights from a Britmovie perspective:

- UK premiere of In Bruges (Colin Farrell and Ralph Fiennes' new British-financed film)
- Two "in coversations" evenings with Michael Palin, before showings of A Private Function and American Friends, along with a full retrospective of his films (not just the Monty Python ones!)
- Kenneth Branagh in conversation, and introducing a 70mm print of Hamlet
- Other British luminaries in conversation - Mike Figgis, Julien Temple, Barry Norman Dick Carruthers (Led Zeppelin concert director), and composer Patrick Doyle
- The first-ever screening of a digitally restored version of The Spy Who Loved Me
- Michael Powell's rare classic Honeymoon (1959) in 70mm
- To tie in with Barry Norman's visit to the festival we'll be showing three of his father Leslie's movies - Dunkirk, The Night My Number Came Up and The Long and The Short and The Tall
- The renowned Industry Weekend for those working in film, with masterclasses and presentations

All in all, there's a very strong line-up and it's well worth coming along. Tickets are available now and if you've got any questions about the full programme post them up and I'll be happy to answer them (or find someone here who can answer them).

Hi all, as a follow-up to this I just wanted to make you aware of a couple of extra events that might interest you at the Bradford International Film Festival;

The first of the two Michael Palin "in conversation with" evenings (this Saturday evening) is now all-but sold out, however there are still tickets left for the second event this coming Sunday evening where he discusses his career and specifically "American Friends", in which of course he starred and wrote the script (based on his grandfather's diaries).

Additionally we've got tickets left for Barry Norman's "in conversation with" evening next Wednesday evening (5th March) if you want to come along and see Britain's best-known film reviewer (and pickled onion salesman) as he chats about his illustrious career as a critic.

Tickets for both events can be purchased through the BIFF website.

Hi all - another great event at the Bradford International Film Festival to alert you about; Mike Figgis, director of Leaving Las Vegas and Stormy Monday is at the National Media Museum in Bradford tomorrow evening to show off a live mix of his brilliant experimental movie Timecode. Tickets are available now.

If you can't make it on Tuesday, Mike talks about his work and runs a masterclass on Wednesday evening - more details here.

Sorry Peer, I couldn't make it

It's a bit of a long way from SW London and I had to be back here early this morning. And I have seen it a few times before in all its restored glory, although not on such a big screen

But the others from the P&P group who did go seem to have enjoyed it
