Barbara ---------------- http://www.picturehouses.co.uk/news_...Id=bath&id=327 HIGHLIGHTS THIS WEEK -------------------------------------------------- ARCHIVE SCREENINGS Due to overwhelming demand for the four previous screenings, The Little is very proud to present two further ARCHIVE PROGRAMMES, featuring glorious footage from the life and times of Bath, including the Bath blitz, the Queen's visit, plus extracts from John Betjeman's musings on the city. Each programme will be narrated by noted local historian, Kirsten Elliot. Tickets are already selling fast so be sure to grab one quickly. ARCHIVE PROGRAMME Duration: 180m Sunday 11 Feb at 2.30 / Thursday 15 Feb at 7.15pm. We are proud to present a fascinating collection of films documenting change in Bath and the surrounding area over the last 90 years. The programme includes footage from World War One of veterans being greeted by Countess Waldegrave, a 1920s tourist film, depictions of the Bath blitz, a civil defence film from 1965, a look at the spa facilities available in years gone by, a glimpse of now-vanished areas of Bath before the 1970s redevelopments took place, coverage of the Queen's visit and 1973 parade celebrating one thousand years of monarchy and a record of the Maud Heath pageant in 1974 (which the amateur film maker responsible will introduce). Also presented, in the centenary of his birth, are excerpts from John Betjeman's programme on Bath architecture. In addition, we are delighted to be able to present some highlights from a brand new production BATH: Glorious History, Majestic Beauty, in which modern film is enhanced by historical illustrations and archive photographs to depict the story of Bath from Stone Age settlers to the present day. The evening will be enhanced by explanations and narration from local author and historian Kirsten Elliot. Thanks to the South West Film and Television Archive, BRLSI, Bath City Archive, University of Bath, Bath Film Festival, First Take, Green Umbrella, Video By Design, Daniel Brown and John Greenwood for all their assistance.
