I'm sure I read somewhere once that there was a scene in this movie, filmed at the old Hippodrome theatre in the town. I watched carefully a while ago but blessed if I could see any scene taking place in a theatre/cinema. I must have blinked and missed it. Fortunately, someone on the internet spotted it....

There is a scene in "Brighton Rock" that was filmed in studio, this scene is supposed to represent the Prince's dance hall (based on the real dance hall) at Brighton Aquarium. In the book it is Sherry's dance hall that is mentioned.
I believe this may be what is getting confused with the wonderful Brighton Hippodrome. To my knowledge none of Brighton Rock was filmed at Brighton Hippodome. As many know "Brighton Rock" was mainly filmed at Welwyn and the larger Cosmopolitan hotel scenes were filmed at MGM Elstree studios.

That scan could be from Gloucester Road off Queens Road, or maybe Duke Street off of West Street (the victorian buildings in back ground may have been replaced by Mitre House IIRC). The latter is more likely as from memory Kolly Kibber's route is closer to the seafront than Queens Road. (maybe even Cranbourne St. before Chirchill Sq.) The pub on the RHS will be a clue...I think it might be there still.

if we don't solve it before I go to Brighton in June I will try and find out where it is, I would add that very few pubs have been closed down all the ones that I went to 40 yrs ago are still all there I went to nearly all of them Hic Hic
