Just to remind organ fans that there is an organ concert at the State Kilburn on Sunday starting at 2.30pm.I believe that the organist is Nigel Ogden.Well worth a visit.By the way to those who may be interested the cinema in my avtar is the Odeon Temple Fortune(Golders Green)which was alas closed in 1973 and subsequently demolished for sheltered accomodation. It was the first cinema i ever visitred back in 1950 and i always remember it fondly. It opened in 1930 as the Orpheum hence my name.If anyone out there has any memories of it i would be interested to hear.

Remember it well, though was never in it. Used to pass it on way to school each day, Kilburn to Finchley.

It had 2700 seats and was used for variety shows as per the billboard in the photo,The Gang Show, ballet, wresting and of course the overflow service from Kinloss Synagogue on high holy days.Rank wanted to turn it into a nightclub but local residents oposed this so it ended up being demolished like so many other marvellous buildings in the 1970s.If you see a supermaarket or sheltered accomodation on the high street near you the odds are that it once was occupied by a cinema

I hope those that went enjoyed it.To those who didnt the sad news was announced that the building will close on the 15th August. It has been sold to an American theatre company. So lets hope they will allow concerts again. However for the present that was the last concert.
