Sounds excellent, penfold - but I'm afraid I can't make that date/time! Is it available commercially?

Just a reminder; around 6.00pm, This Thursday; Trafalgar Square, London.....a free open-air screening of the truly fabulous High Treason, a British Science Fiction classic from 1928...live music from the equally fabulous Mr Neil Brand.....if you can reach London, and you don't know how great this film is, you should really try and get there....if you have seen it, you won't need me telling you.....
Imagine a 1920's silent version of Things to Come.....only, IMO, better!!![]()

Penfold and I braved the torrential rain and biting winds to watch this agreeably bonkers film. The best scene was the Nightclub of the Future where the floorshow consists of a fencing match. Most traumatic scene - the cute puppy which meets a sticky end in the Channel Tunnel (a scene which clearly made an impression on Hitch since he stole it for Sabotage). Did any other forum members attend?

No, I'm afraid not....which is a pity, as I'm sure it would shift loads of units, if only as a camp classic....perhaps this screening and the attendant publicity might draw it to the attention to those who make these decisions....and it's a lovely surviving print....
There must have been around 500 hardy souls out there last night in the rain and very strong wind, and stayed with it....
Tonight there is a selection of London films, starting with a very-recently discovered (in Australia) and only just first-seen (a matter of two weeks ago, in Italy) film , eleven minutes of a forty minute film called Living London, shot by Charles Urban in 1904. It's stunning beyond belief, in terms of subject matter, picture quality (and quality of its survival) and it's first up at 6.30pm tonight....added to the programme at the last minute, so it hasn't got the publicity it might have got - but then, no-one outside the Australian National Film Archive had seen it two weeks ago....well worth a tube ride if you're in the London area tonight. Ther rest of the programme looks interesting too...
