It is a sad fact that in London there are hardly any venues left with the closure of the State Kilburn and the water damage to the organ at the Granada Tooting. However on looking at the website of the Cinema Organ society i have found 3 on the South Coast.

Firstly in Worthing John Mann plays every Wednesday afternoon at 2pm at the Pavillion. Also at the end of some months there is a Wurlitzer organ concert at the Assembly Rooms.

Secondly at the Southampton Guildhall.Built into this impressive 1937 auditorium is a 2 console Compton. One console is for variety the other for classical.Last Saturday Richard Hills gave a good concert assisted by David Grey.Grey is just 18 and studying to be a concert pianist. For someone so young his playing was very assured. The next concert there is at the begining of October.

the third is a Compton organ from the Regal Ilford which is installed in the Portslade Town Hall just a couple of miles outside Bighton.Last Sunday was a fine concert by one of my favouites Len Rawle. His Gershwin selection is really great. There is a concert every month.the next is on August 9th at 3pm,and there is a concert every month.A good excuse,if ever one were needed to spend a day down in Brighton.Highly recommended.
