    Hi

Does anyone on here have any memories of working with documentary producer Gerard / Gerry Holdsworth? Thanks in advance.

    Hi
I worked for Gerard Holdsworth Productions on and off from 1967 through to about 1982. I met Gerry many times but even by the time I started working for them he was already taking a back seat. From 1970 onwards he really wasn't involved in the production side at all. Most of the people he worked closely with have passed on.
    Best wishes

Wow a reply! I wasn't expecting one. Thanks
Was he always a producer or had he ever been a more 'hands on' film maker in the past? Were you aware of his wartime exploits?

Hi Sorry for being such a long time replying.
Gerry was always a producer and was good at putting packages together and getting business etc. He was never a hands-on film-maker in any way as far as I know. He could be extremely charming when he wanted to be.
Yes I was well aware of his wartime exploits, although he very rarely spoke about them and then only briefly. Now and then I took a projector to show the company's films to his SOE buddies. I was very young and resented the extra time I was obliged to spend doing this. I can recall looking at my watch and wondering how soon I could get away. The things that those people had done and the bravery they had shown!! They were a quiet and unassuming bunch as I recall. Not only did I not ask them about their experiences but I was anxious to get away to meet my mates down the pub!
    Best Wishes

    Hi

Thanks for that. I should look at this thing more often.
