Andrew Mazzei - British Film Art Director
Andrew Mazzei (born Havre, France 2nd August 1887 - died Cornwall, England 6th august 1975), of Italian / French parentage was a British Film Art Director who worked on over 60 films from 1926-1952.
He began working with the "Famous Players Lasky Film Co." in the early 1920's, and then worked for J. H. Productions, based at Elstree. He worked on many films directed by Maurice Elvey, and famous actors such as Phyllis Calvert, Richard Attenborough, Michael Redgrave and Stewart Granger to name a few acted in films he worked on.
He also designed many rooms for the Blackpool Tower & Winter Gardens Co. in the 1930's.
His film credits include three versions of Hindle Wakes (1927, 1931 and 1952), Rome Express (1931), Madonna of the Seven Moons (1944), The Upturned Glass (1947) etc.
If anybody has any further information on Andrew, I would love to hear from you, as he was my Great-Grandfathers' cousin.
