Can anyone point me in the right direction to contact director Tom Clegg; I've tried all the usual places like the 'Directors Guild' and 'The Knowledge' but to no avail.

I worked with Tom many many times and he always let me ad-lib lines where possible.. The best was on McVICAR..
I used to have his phone number but alas it was lost in time....
I talk about Tom alot on my web pages..(soon to be in book form)

I did my dissertation on him when I was at uni. Very nice guy. He sent me tons of stuff through the post - including a full script of Minder, from episode 8, including all his notes.

Clegg was the ultimate Sweeney director - shooting the pilot, the last ever epiosde, and Sweeney 2.
He also did Hammer House of Horror, and one of my all-time favourites - McVicar.

Great director!! Is he still working?

Sorry 45doyle, I don't mean to hijack your thread but as a quick aside - Harold, you don't still have the script to hand do you? It's just, the filming dates would be in there somewhere, possibly - was it "The Beer Hunter" from Series 2, 1980 or maybe "Dream House" from S3, 1981..? Always on the lookout for Minder filming dates!
