Well I'm going to mention Lord Attenborough as no-one else has......
Great fan of the films of his I've seen....
Tony Richardson - unlike many of the others (including Hitchcock, Powell), he actually waon a Academy Award for Best Director......there would be no Ken Loach of Mike Leigh if Richardson had not paved the way.....
Another vote for Alfred Hitchcock here.
