Default film editor Richard Best has died
He was an editing assistant on "As You Like It" (1936), later worked for Boulting Brothers (beginning with "Journey Together"). He died aged 88 on Dec 19th 2004

He edited quite a few other well known films as well like
The Dam Busters (1954)
The Weak and the Wicked (1953)
Yield to the Night (1956)
Ice-Cold in Alex (1958)
Look Back in Anger (1958)
School for Scoundrels (1960)
"The Avengers" (1961) (Diana Rigg era in 1965)
The Rebel (1961)
and many others

That's really bad news

I met Richard and his wife Noreen Ackland (also an excellent editor) at a PRISONER convention years ago. They really were both very, very nice people. As Steve has pointed out above, Richard was one of the principal editors at the old ABPC Elstree film factory.

Another talented technician who will be sorely missed...
