Composer and orchestrator Roy Douglas celebrates his 100th birthday today. He retired from the film industry in 1946, his last work being orchestrating the theme music for David Lean's Great Expectations. He had composed the music for Dick Turpin (1933), The Bells Go Down (1943) and Candlelight in Algeria (1944). After his film career, he continued to work with Ralph Vaughan Williams and William Walton. He had arranged the music for 24 Richard Addinsell film scores.
