Right on Bats. I bought the DVD of The System today, and am really looking forward to sitting down in about 15 minutes and lapping every great second of what i consider to be one of the best British films of the Sixties.

Earlier in this thread, Windthrop said all that needed saying about Michael Winner, director. I do agree he is a great tv guest star on chat shows, and I also like his tv ads!

Start every day with a smile and get it over with.

Between the overacting, - especially from those who should know better (Yes, I mean you, Geilgud) - the ham-fisted direction and the terrifying casting of Faye' No Wire Hangers' Dunaway, my nerves are shattered.

And the less said about the naked catfight/whip-fest with Deanna Troi, the better. Although I shall never be able to watch Next Gen the same way again.

Does anyone have a stiff drink?
Apparently, the fight was inspired by The Idol of Paris.
I did read that one problem with shooting the film was that Faye Dunaway and Alan Bates were both fairly insistent on showing their 'best sides' _ which was the same one for both of them, which made it tricky to shoot them in conversation!

In the early days doing extra work, I had worked on, West Eleven, The Jokers, The Games, and I'll never forget what's is name, Michael Winner was very rude to the extras and also to some of the crew.
