I refer to the assistant director later director. I know he was born in 1907 and the IMDB has no date of death listed. Neither does the Encyclopedia of British Film (promising).

I was wondering if any more information on George Pollock has come to light since JamesM's original post. He directed Margaret Rutherford's wonderful Miss Marple films, and will be 100 this year. His death is not registered on IMDb.

Regards
Phil Turner

Hello

I am George Pollock's Son in Law. His daughter, my wife and I can provide quite a bit of information about him. Sadly, he died on 22nd December 1979.

Hello Peter

Many thanks for taking the trouble to reply. I am very sorry to learn that your father-in-law is no longer with us. He left a wonderful legacy and, as you are no doubt aware, he was Assistant Director on Brief Encounter, which happens to be my favourite movie. Along with his Miss Marple films, his contribution to British cinema was priceless.

I note that his entry on IMDb has been updated with the correct information.

Regards
Phil Turner

Hello Peter, I can only echo Phil's comments about your father-in-law, George Pollock. He has directed some great films. We would love to have more information about him if you can spare the time. His four "Miss Marple" films, with the great Margaret Rutherford, have achieved cult status!

All the best

Jack
