I read on another message board that film editor Peter Seabourne died. I can't find any confirmation. The guy who posted the notice is one of the more reliable posters on that board, so I tend to believe it. I'd love to hear from someone else who might point me toward an obituary. I've cut and pasted the message from the Voy Forum Celebrity Obit board. Thanks!
Peter Seabourne, film editor, director, writer, died July 25th 2005 Peter Seabourne began his career assisting his father the editor John Sr on such as Powell and Pressburger's "The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp becoming a film editor in his own right for the early WWII prison escape drama "The Wooden Horse" (1950), the Norman Wisdom comedy "Trouble in Store" and the tv series "The Adventures of Robin Hood" in the 1950s. He wrote and directed two films in the late 1960s, "Countdown To Danger" and "Escape To Sea" for the Children's Film Foundation before producing and directing the works of Gilbert and Sullivan for television in the UK in the early 1970s. |

I got an email from his niece telling me when Peter died. Since then I've corresponded more with her. John Snr died some time ago, not sure exactly when. But John Jnr is still alive and quite well given his advanced years. I haven't seen any obits though. Steve P.S. I've just looked up the entry on the Voy Forum Celebrity Obit board. Is that contributor the same reliable James M that's a regular here? Steve |

Yep
that's me, Hi Rusty this feels like bumping into someone you know when you are on holiday Hi Steve, do you know how old John Jr is? I am looking into the possibility of recording an audio commenatry for an old Tod Slaughter film, Sexton Blake and the Hooded Terror (1938), for a forthcoming DVD release and was wondering if John Jr worked with his father on this in the cutting room. I already have plans to ask E. M. Smedley-Aston (the film's production manager) to participate. |
