I just heard that Trevor Duncan, one of our greatest composers, passed away on December 17th, 2005, aged 81. He wrote some marvellous music for both the British cinema and television; such as Grand Vista, which was used as the original Pearl & Dean cinema adverts reel music from 1953 to 1968; The Plane Makers (ATV 1963 -1964) and also his March from a Little Suite became famous in 1962 and beyond as the theme music to BBC Television's Dr Finlay's Casebook. He also wrote the original score for BBC Television's serial Quatermass and the Pit in 1958 and his spectacular suite entitled The Visionaries Grand March, written in the 1950's, was used in many cinema films and television programmes as diverse as Scotland Yard Casebook and Tales of Mystery and Imagination.
