Thanks for the kind words. I hated the interview, and was not very well when it was done. Hey ho thats yesterday...etc: Great to hear from you and the others.
Please keep in touch. All the best John
Great to have you as part of the Forum John.

For many years you were simply known as John Moxey.
Is the story true that you only added the Llewellyn as your middle name after receiving advice from a numerologist?
Which also beggars the question, are you very superstitious?
Were there certain mystical "signs" that you looked for before you would be happy to take on a film project?

Cheers

Dave.

Robert Helpman (as he was born) added an extra 'n' to the end of his surname to avoid having 13 letters in his name.

Steve...Llewellyn is my real middle name. On the beach at Malibu a numerologist suggested that I added it to my screen name. I did!! All the best John.

I wish I knew how to add Oops it happened..Wonders never cease!

I am Married to Jane and I have 2 sons Robin John, and Timothy Llewellyn!
I started as John Moxey, directing in the UK and when I first moved to the states. I added my middle name, after sitting on the beach, out of work, and was advised by the numerologist.
As to evasiveness, I applogise. I really have nothing to hide. Ask me anything you like, if you need more proof, and I will be happy to answer.
Cheers John Llewellyn

Hello, Mr. Moxey,

Please rest easy. No need for you or anyone else to prove themselves, as far as I'm concerned. I prefer to think that you are the fine director John llewellyn Moxey. And if not, well... nothing lost, but I've gained an opportunity to discuss my favourite JLM films, especially The Night Stalker.

Did you do any film work in Argentina as you were starting out in the business?

Thanks,

Barbara

If you look further into that IMDb filmography you'll see that some of his early work was credited as just John Moxey. It's quite often the case that people have a middle name, but don't use all their names professionally. It's entirely up to individuals how many of their names they use professionally - or if they make up their professional name.

As I'm named after my paternal grandfather, with an extra middle name to remember my maternal grandfather, if I just use one middle name it can get confusing, especially as I now life in my grandad's old house. On one visit to the doctor's they had got my granddad's notes out instead of mine - the Doc said I was looking very good for my age.

The "Stanmore" in my name is used in the family to remember out G-G-grandmother who was the last of her line. It's not a double-barrelled surname. It is a middle name. But it's been carried through 5 generations.

I've even got my own monogram based on my initials

Home as well!
Usually your ISP (Internet Service Provider) will let you have a bit of space on their web site to start creating your own web site. They'll often let you have some simple tools to help you as well.

But your ISP, centurytel.net, don't seem to offer that.

There are places that let you create a web site of your own free of charge. But they have to make money somehow so they usually fill the free web pages with ads which you can't control.

I pay for my own Powell & Pressburger site which acts as my home page.

Does anyone else have any experience of fairly simple ways to set up a web site?

Steve

P.S. I've removed your email address from the "Home Page" entry in your profile but left it in the "Email" entry.
Forum members can still send you email or PMs (Private Messages) through the forum's message system.

Hello John

I joined the BECTU Film and History Project team recently and was wondering if you would consider being interviewed the enxt time you come to England.

I happen to be planning to ask Bernard Ebbinghouse for an interview for the project. He doesn't live too far away from me (in South London). Although I watched many of the Edgar Wallace films in the mid 1980s on television, there seem to be more qualified people to interview him on here and wondered if anybody not living too far away would like to volounteer to interview him (I would perform the task of recording / filming it if he agrees to it). Travel expenses only, we are all volounteers.

Wonderful! The BECTU Film and History Project is such a worthwhile contribution to film history.

BECTU Oral History project

I am wondering if the 500 interviews conducted thus far will all be available eventually? I note that some are now available through BFI and that 80 of them can be read online with access approval. The mind boggles at all the greats who weren't interviewed over the years; that makes this project especially valuable.

Good luck in your admirable volunteer effort,

Barbara

Some interviews are ctranscribed on the screenonline website. The link Barbara posted provides a good introduction to the project. It is ashame that it is not more widely accessable.
