Your age, according to IMDB is surprising

Was Margaret Lockwood nice to work with?

And how was Coronation Street?

It never fails to surprise me too! (The picture on my profile is staggering)

I was only a Third Assistant Director on that film, but she was always very friendly.

I looked through your long list of credits - on both sides of the Atlantic - and there are so many series that were popular here in the 70s and 80s. You directed several episodes of Murder She Wrote and Matlock.

What was it like to direct and work with Angela Lansbury and Andy Griffith?

Angela was great to work with. A very talented and lovely lady. Andy Griffith was a little different! It turned out he was not too fond of the British. Ah well, it takes all sorts.

Cheers John

Hello John,
Can I ask what are your memories of working with Doug McClure?

Doug is one of the best. We became good friends. I spoke to him on the phone a few days ago. He sounded great.

I think the Doug McClure the other Phil is referring to died in 1995. So unless you have a very special and unique phone you might be thinking of someone else... This is the guy:

Dear Mr. Moxey:

I had tried to email you directly at the email address you listed earlier in this message board but got no answer.

I wanted to ask you about 2 of your TV movies, both shot the same year: "Nightmare in Badham County" and "Smash-Up on Interstate 5."

I have a copy of Badham and watch it frequently with friends. I saw "Smash-Up" for the first time in years this week and it held up wonderfully.

I was wondering if you would be willing to share your thoughts about both films, how they came about, what was the cast and crew like to work with, etc? Were there any unforeseen problems filming in Mississippi in "Badham County," and how difficult was it to film the final car crash sequence in "Smash-Up"?

Anyway, thank you for taking the time to read my questions. And thanks for the memories. You made some great TV movies in the 1970s and 1980s.

That is nice to hear about Angela Lansbury. That show was a great favorite in my family.

As for Andy Griffith - as you know, he has been a "household name" here in the US since the 60s. (I'm not sure how popular he is in Britain?) But I have read that he can be rather cranky and irritable. I'm sorry you had to put up with that sort of treatment. But Matlock was quite a good show.
