Brian Eatwell, production designer, R. I. P. - Britmovie

Art director /production designer for David Greene (I Start Counting, Stranger Affair, The Shuttered Room and Godspell) and the Dr Phibes films, died on January 20th 2007 aged 67. He also served as art director on three Richard Lester films (inc. the first two Musketeers films), Walkabout and The Man Who Fell to Earth for Nic Roeg and on Clive Donner's Here We Go Round the Mulberry Bush.

Many of these films are firm forum favourites.

The American disc of The Complete Musketeers features an interview with him. What a lovely man.
'I got so stressed on the Musketeers that my hair was falling out. Alopecia. I went to see a specialist in Harley Street. He said "Oh, it'll grow back. You've just been under stress. Incidentally, what have you been doing?" I said "Oh, I just finished filming The Three Musketeers." He says, "Ah, makes sense, I had that Simon Ward in last week..."'

Eatwell's designs and Basil Kirchin's musical direction made the first Phibes movie for me.

Basil Kirchin worked 'with' Eatwell on most of those David Greene films.
