The one-off film has been written by Men Behaving Badly creator Simon Nye.

Threlfall, who is best known for his role of layabout Frank Gallagher in the Channel 4 series, will star alongside actress Amanda Redman as his wife Gwen.
Nye's script will focus on the dilemma faced by Cooper when he fell in love with assistant Mary Kay, embarking on a relationship which lasted 17 years.
The comic magician, one of the best-known TV stars in the 70s, died after suffering a heart attack on stage, live on television, in 1984.
ITV's director of drama commissioning, Steve November, said it felt "fitting" to tell Cooper's story on ITV.

The Last Days of Anne Boleyn
BBC2 Thursday 23rd May 2013 ... 9.00-10.00pm

On Friday 19 May, 1536, one of the most infamous periods in Tudor history came to a gruesome conclusion: Anne Boleyn, second wife of Henry VIII, became the first British Queen in history to be executed.

Very looking forward to this fascinating looking documentary.
Emma

Anne is one of the most controversial figures in the history of the British court, but the circumstances of her death remain shrouded in mystery and contradiction. Who was the real Anne Boleyn, and why did Henry have her killed?

The brutal speed of her downfall and the astonishing nature of the charges against her - treason, adultery, sexually insatiable and out of control - even incest - retain their power to shock. We know how Anne died but the story of why she had to go and who authored her violent end has been the subject of fiery debate across six centuries.

Writers and historians give their own unique interpretations on the last days of Anne Boleyn, one of the most famous and controversial women in British history.

The Last Days Of Anne Boleyn brings together leading authors and historians (including Hilary Mantel, Philippa Gregory and David Starkey) to research the extraordinary evidence surrounding Anne Boleyn’s journey to the executioner.

Whilst watching an episode of the excellent and entertaining (it is more funny than some sitcoms) NCIS,I noticed Mark Harmon is also a producer of the show. Not new,I know,as Tony Shaloub took on producer duties in his equally excellent and entertaining Monk, but going back to the 70's Alan Alda became producer of the classic show MASH. I read somewhere, that when Alda became producer,Wayne Rogers (Trapper John) was beginning to feel a bit put out as Alda was giving his role as Hawkeye more prominence.
Do actors who become producers of their own television show gain more creative influence,or is it simply more money for them?

The Fall - BBC2 1/5

Very impressive, gripping first episode - with Gilllian Anderson displaying her virtually flawless English accent.

Gillian Anderson is excellent as Detective Superintendent Stella Gibson of the Metropolitan Police who is called into Belfast from London to review and re-investigate the sexual murder of a young woman. The murder has remained unsolved after 28 days.

Running parallel is the story of the apparent sadistic serial killer of attractive professional young women: Jamie Dornan (Calvin Klein heart-throb model - playing against type) as clever psychologist Paul Spector. He's an apparently happily married family man - who is also a quiet obsessive, a fitness fanatic - who stalks, watches and waits ... the two main protagonists make for a compelling story - some neat Hitchcockian style touches of the killer taking huge risks - its pretty scary too.

Gillian Anderson, Jamie Dornan;
Laura Donnelly, Bronagh Waugh, Ben Peel, Michael McElhatton
Director: Jakob Verbruggen
I caught it on catch up after Vicious....but gave up about halfway through. :(

A Jobcentre is not an obvious place for a comedy show and (I should know, I work in one..:o) and with it's stereotypical portrayal of bored staff and stroppy customers, The Joblot came over as well.. rather obvious.

This show was compared to The Office I think in one review. Well at least the two shows are consistant, I never found the Office funny either.

I thoroughly enjoyed it - very entertaining indeed.
I thought it was quite easily the best episode of this series - very inventive - the programme moved at a furious pace with some dazzling dialogue - loved the nice nod to The Avengers with Jenny in tight leather catsuit karate fight - could have done with it being a touch longer - even perhaps a two-parter. Outstanding performances by Diana Rigg, Rachael Stirling, Matt Smith, sapphic Silurian Vastra (Neve McIntosh), her lover - Victorian maid Jenny (Catrin Stewart) and Sontaran manservant Strax (Dan Starkey).

The Telegraph Review … by Ben Lawrence … top 5 star rating
Set in Yorkshire in 1893, the austere Mrs Gillyflower (played by Dame Diana Rigg) was warning locals about the End of Days. As a solution, she unveiled her plans for Sweetville, (a nicely twisted pastiche of the Bournville model village, established by the Cadbury family in the late 19th century) which would offer salvation to the deserving. Of course, this was all a lie and Mrs Gillyflower turned out to be a diabolical mastermind intent on destroying mankind.

The Crimson Horror was effective, in part, because neither the Doctor (Matt Smith) nor Clara (Jenna-Louise Coleman) made an appearance until 15 minutes had passed, allowing the story to develop free of exposition. When they did arrive, their story was seen through a grainy filter giving a rather odd sensation, as if you were watching a Seventies TV adaptation of an Elizabeth Gaskell novel.

Because of the duo’s initial absence, much of the mystery solving came from the Steampunk trio of Silurian Vastra (Neve McIntosh), her parlourmaid-cum-lesbian lover Jenny (Catrin Stewart) and Sontaran manservant Strax (Dan Starkey). This oddball unit worked well together, to the extent that I’m rather hoping for a spin-off series. In a lovely nod to Dame Diana Rigg’s Emma Peel character in The Avengers, Jenny proved to be a martial arts expert, dispatching of Mrs Gillyflower’s heavies with a well-aimed karate chop.

Of course, this rich, Grand Guignol story would have been nothing without the heavyweight presence of Rigg, and she embraced the general madness with gusto, making Mrs Gillyflower sinister, sarcastic and rather sad. However, the standout performance came from Rigg’s daughter Rachael Stirling, playing Mrs Gillyflower’s misused daughter Ada, blinded by her mother as an experiment, her “eyes as white as mistletoe berries”. Amid the OTT thrills, Stirling offered humanity and sensitivity, taking refuge in helping the “monster” in the attic. At the end, the Doctor told Ada to step into the light, the implication being that she would go on to do good works in the community. It was a thoughtful resolution to a terrific episode, the best of this series so far.

The Telegraph … 5/5/13
