My name is Andy Wilton, I'm a professional filmmaker from Newcastle (work .inc Nike, ASDA, Orange).

I've just released my first feature, free, online. This is an independent UK film, made with UK talent, in the UK, for £1000. Xan Brooks of the Guardian says: "Guess What? It's actually pretty funny".

"Behind the Scenes of TOTAL HELL" is a mockumentary about low budget filmmaking. Sort of "This is Spinal Tap", but instead of focussing on the music industry, we poke fun at low budget filmmaking.

It is the story of the search for an American singer called Rodriguez, who made an album in around 1970 that did nothing in the US or anywhere else for that matter apart from South Africa where it was a huge hit. A number of fans and a journalist try to track him down notwithstanding the fact that he had been reported to have set fire to himself live on stage and also to have shot himself dead on stage many years ago.

It is a fascinating story and well worth watching. The Hypnotherapist is played by the very good looking Rosario Dawson who is well worth watching and Vincent Cassell as always plays the nasty for all it's worth, he is a very formidable actor. Overall it's pretty far fetched and does go on a bit.

Thriller starring Colin Farrell, Dominic Cooper who was excellent in An Education and Noomi Rapace the Swedish born actress who starred in the Scandinavian version of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo and the follow up, The Girl Who Played With Fire.

It starts with a little too much effing and blinding for my liking and that was even before the titles appeared!! But it then settles down into an above average dark story about revenge. The middle is a bit on the slow side as the characters and relationships are developing, but the shoot out at the end is highly original and makes up for any slower moments previously.

The cast do well and Dominic Cooper drops his American accent during only one scene, but he is very convincing and a really good actor. I sense his career is on an upward scale. I've never really been a Colin Farrell fan but have to admit he is good in this, playing a brooding quiet hit man. I have seen a lot worse than this in the past and overall it's worth seeing.

It stars Jessica Chastain who was nominated for the Best Actress Oscar who is terrific, just as she was in her first film Jolene that I would also strongly recommend. Played as a thriller it will hold you on the edge of your seat plus all the politicking prior to the final operation.

Well worth seeing

It is the story of an old couple living in Paris and the Wife's suffering with a series of debilitating strokes whilst the Husband tries his best to look after her. It is without question the most depressing film I have ever seen, but from an acting point of view it is outstanding.

Sunday the 24 February is Oscar night and is the 86th Birthday of Emmanuelle Riva. It would be a wonderful present for a wonderful actress, who appeared in Hiroshima Mon Amour way back in 1959, if she were to win Best Actress.
