so called sex comedy's from the 60's and 70's? Were any of them good films?

Think many of us remember the confessions films which were the most famous and probably the best but were any of the others any good? The adventure films were only fair to be honest even with a few decent actors in them. Watched one called The Ups and Downs of a Handyman which was again only fair as was Can You Keep It Up for a Week? Got one still to watch called the secrets of a door to door salesman so my question is was any of this type of film actually a good film in its own right? Cheers!

I picked this up through Caught by the River.

Claude Friese-Green took the colour film back in 1927. Some of you may also recognise the name of one of the composers of the music that accompanies the images - Yann Tiersen - best know, to me, for the wonderful music for Am�lie.

031 corrected comp. web.jpgBetween 1968 and 1982 this grey Rolls Royce appeared in many TV series and movies, and no-one knew about it ! I need your help to trace its " movie " history ! So far, I know it was used in " The Avengers season 6 " ( I wish you were here - Love all ) " The Persuaders " ( It's me over there " ) The Professionals ( 4 episodes ) Shirley's World ( The islanders ) MINDER ( 3 episodes including the very first one " Gunfight at the Ok Launderette " ) Only fools and horses ( A touch of glass ) SUNDAY LOVERS ( driven by Roger Moore ) . It had an accident in june / july 1969 at MGM British studios probably during the filming of " My lover, my son " ..... So if you watch a British film made during this period, or a tv serie, please let me know !!!:thumbsup:

According to film historian Brian Hannan,John Wayne was once lined up to play TE Lawrence in a 1953 film about the exploits of the World War One army officer. However,the film was cancelled due to lack of funding. The project finally got off the ground in 1962 with Peter O'Toole. Lawrence Of Arabia won seven Oscars including Best Film and Best Director for Sir David Lean and it has become a much admired masterpiece.
Mr Hannan said:"Had the film gone ahead with Wayne,it would have been a completely different take on the character. Contrast Wayne,this imposing actor,with O'Toole,and his slightly effeminate portrayal."

New towns featured in Films!

Being Mulberry Bush film fan i had to mention Stevenage first but also Gregory's girl which featured Cumbernauld. Shame most new towns look old already. Any more you can think of? Cheers Lee!

Ian Mcshane Film?

Years ago i was woken up during the night with the telly on and a Ian Mcshane film was on but with the sound down. He was very young in his 20's i would say and he was jumping down from a large wall ( maybe a prison wall ) and was holed up in a london home with some other people. Does this ring any bells with anyone and is it a good film Cheers Lee!

it was aired on the TV in the late 80's and was about a man and a woman living on this farm together they were the only ones in the area left alive- i think it was one of those apocalyptic dramas and was about the aftermath of a contagious disease or perhaps a nuclear war.

Cinerama Is Back!

Well just for one night only. To mark the 60th anniverasry of this format, a new Cinerama short film has been made in California. They have used Cinerama #3, one of the only remaining 3 plate cameras in existence and last used on How The West Was Won. With very few modifications and using the original lenses a 26 minute travelogue called In The Picture, similar to the first Cinerama demonstaration film has been shot by John Hora ASC. The only major difference is that it has been shot on Fuji 6 perf stock rather than Kodak.

It is an extraordinary looking beast of a contraption and must have been a nightmare to shoot with especially as it sounds " like a coffee grinder mating with a lawnmower" when rolling unblimped according to Hora. It has an amazing 146 degree of horizontal view and if you stood just next to the camera you would be in the shot!

Anyway you can catch it at the Widescreen Festival at The National Media Museum in Bradford between 26- 28th April. Sadly I can't make it but if you can, it's almost certainly the last film ever to be shot in this format and is a bit of cinematic history.
