mmmm....not only the worst single but one of the worst videos to match! The overcast weather certainly suggests an English backlot, its obviously an existing set but doesn't look familiar to me Im afraid. Do you know the date of the video?
I found this rather interesting video on Youtube...Possibly one of Mike Oldfields worst singles!!
I think thats Larry Martin in the Video and it seems to have been shot on a film backlot....do any readers recognise which one...?

The video was shot in 1975....I have a feeling it may be Pinewood....I recently saw the Morcambe and Wise film "The Magnificent Two" and this set looked vaguely familiar!!!
Definitely Pinewood, as in the first few rows of shots here:
Pinewood Studios - Back lot
Yes!...Thanks for that...I was watching the video again and you can spot a couple of empty Wine Barrels....I wonder if this is the same one that Eric and Ernie were hiding in in the Magnificent two !!!
Of the top of my head, two films I can think of around 74/75 that could merit the expense of that set, "The Four Musketeers" and "Royal Flash"
I can remember working on these sets...
Aitch,

Though from the Avengerland photos it seems that the set (or a large part of it) was standing at least as early as 1967

Yes that would seem so, I was guessing on the assumption that the set was built around the 70s but as you say and from the Avenger land site it looks like its been standing much longer, since the 60s.![]()
I can remember someone saying....Summer Holiday...
Up The Khyber...???
Aitch,
IIRC these 'Spanish' sets were first put up for Sir Cliff's 1966 release FINDERS KEEPERS and stood for a heck of a time thereafter...
Also mentioned in the MGM backlot thread here:

I've just updated a few photos on this page.
I was wondering which film the 'Horse Guards' was built for.
I've seen it used in The Breaking of Bumbo (1970) and I'm assuming, from the dressings seen in U.F.O., that it was also used in Zeppelin (1971).
If nothing else, can someone please confirm the use in Zeppelin. Screen grabs would be appreciated for page.
It was also used in the film: Legend of the Werewolf starring Peter Cushing and Ron Moody.
