Daily Telegraph:
Ten per cent of foreign tourists come to Britain because they have fallen in love with a film location, according to a new study.
Three million of the annual 30million visitors are lured by the picturesque settings of such films as HARRY POTTER.
"Film-induced tourism" contributed £1.9billion to the economy last year, according to a study carried out on behalf of the UK Film Council.
The most popular locations include Alnwick Castle in Northumberland, which doubles for Hogwart's School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in the HARRY POTTER films, Chatsworth House in Derbyshire, the setting for the Keira Knightley film THE DUCHESS, and Basildon Park in Berkshire, where parts of the 2005 PRIDE AND PREJUDICE adaptation were filmed.
