Some grabs from the Rex Harrison film shot around Dartmoor. I believe Hendley to be fictional.

The railway scene was filmed on the Dart Valley Railway (which in those days ran from Totnes to Ashburton) near Staverton at a place called Napper's Crossing. The line survives as a heritage railway as far as Buckfastleigh.

That is some impressive detection work Greg. Good to see the locations haven't changed a great deal since the 40s.

    DB7, hankoler and christoph404...
    Thanks chaps for your comments.
    Much appreciated.

The mystery of the Dartmoor-Grimpen filming locations featuring on those three screengrabs for the film Escape (1948) is solved now.

    Best,
    Greg
