The street seen in the far distance in the third pic has a look of Fleet street about it, and with 'Journal' nearby, maybe worth a scour?
At the time of filming 'Lionel Robinson Ltd' was a real company but their only address in the street directory at that time was 3 Staple Inn, WC1 but I don't think these shots show Staple Inn. I can read the word Journal, in the last photo, but I can't read the word above it. Does anyone recognise anything here?

Following on from Mark O, could be Whitefriars Street, although there isn't much left of the old buildings now. The building in the background might be Starbucks on Fleet St.
The Fleet Street area feels good but Whitefriars Street doesn't fit with the street directory from that period. I also looked at Bouverie Street but that didn't work either and the Journal name remains a mystery.
I've rung up the company who now own Lionel Robinson to see if they have any records on their London addresses, will let you know the outcome (note to self...must get out more)
There's also a listing for Lionel Robinson & Co at 28 New Bridge-street
which has been modernized but across the road 16-18 New Bridge Street similarities...

maybe?
I think the word above journal is
Government
Many thanks for the input. The Kelly's Post Office London Directory, 1954, lists numerous businesses at 28 New Bridge Street, EC4, but they do not include Lionel Robinson. Number 28, which was south of Apothecary Street, was not on a corner so it doesn't appear to fit in with my screen grabs. Where is Lionel Robinson listed as being at 28 New Bridge Street? Also, there is no listing in Kelly's for a 'Government Journal', so even if it does say that we still don't know where it is.
Thanks again.

Yes, I found those references on Google and it's a shame the search doesn't reveal entries from The Electrical Engineer nearer to 1954. I suppose we must presume that Tavistock had no luck when he contacted the company back in November.
No I didn't get a response, seems the company has been sold on. I will try the contact again next week.
