I always thought it might be Great Fosters Hall near Egham and Windsor.
Anyone know which mansion was used as the family home in 'Paranoiac'? It looks a lilttle like Dorney Court, but seems a lot larger.

It's a lousy screengrab, I'm afraid, but it looks like Great Fosters can be ticked off the list of possibles. It's much closer in appearance to Dorney Court, but that's not it either, nor is it Ockwells Manor, the other "usual suspect"for Tudorish manor houses

Wow Anthony! well spotted, shame its been demolished.
Had completely missed the fact that Shoppenhangers Manor had been burned down and ultimately demolished. A beautiful building meets a tragic end. Better I suppose than someone having bought it to develop the land. What an awful shame.
And yes, Tony, clearly the same building, isn't it?
Yep - the same building.
A real shame is the fact that it was hidden behind a hotel that I had visited for a quick photo from the front whilst it was still standing. If we'd known about it before it would have been a damn fine place to base a "Treasure Hunt".
Apparently the 'Manor' wasn't as old as it looked:
"Although it looks ancient, it was in fact built in 1915 by a Sussex antique dealer, using lots of salvaged material from really ancient buildings. It is currently part of the adjoining Holiday Inn Hotel complex. "
One of Wayne Kinsey's books on Hammer has several behind the scenes photographs confirming the location is indeed Shoppenhangers Manor.
