Default The Rake's Progress

A location down on the south coast that caught my attention.

It doesn't look the type of foliage you'd get in more northern areas.

Near the top left of the last 2 photos-on the hill-is that a pillbox I see? Some type of building built. If it's the UK I suspect it's probably Devon, Dorset area-somehow I don't think it's Blackpool! Wherever it is-it looks a great getaway retreat.

Those spiky looking plants on the right in that first image

They look a bit tropical which could put it in Cornwall or the Scilly Isles

Assuming those spikey looking plants have not been planted there by the props dept for filming of course! They look real enough though and the topography looks like Devon/Cornwall.

Cabbage Trees!

Also the design of stone wall looks fairly distinctive.

A lot like 'traditional Cornish soil and stone construction' so I'm informed by the All Knowing Interweb.

I thought this might be a possible, but I don't think it is:

Other than the dockwall the house and plants look a bit phoney. I would expect a wall as long as the one behind Ms Palmer in her photo. When the tide comes in it seems a bit of a dodgy place to build a house erosion wise. Could it be a cosy seaside cottage courtesy of the art dept.

I don't think the cottge can possibly be facing the open sea, but may be located in a cove or estuary. There is a cottage in Portmeiron even closer to the sea than this, but it gets stripped and closed up during the winter.

Aye, I recall when Matthew Sweet was on Burgh Island the plantlife was similar.

There does seem to be an installation on the coastline over Lilli Palmers shoulder.
