I watched Press for Time (1966) with Norman Wisdom yesterday on BBC2. Does anyone know the seaside location where it was filmed. I'm guessing somewhere in Cornwall?

    Cheers,

Does anyone know the railway station where Norman Wisdom gets off the train and then runs down a ramp to the sea? I actually asked the great man this question when I met him backstage at the panto in the 1980's and he couldn't remember which station it was :)

Hey crunchie i did a location spot in teignmouth 2 years or so a go and found most of what i wanted, the ramp he runs down is a bridge that goes down to the sea front but the train station in the film was shot elsewhere, never found out where

    cheers Ollie

You should recognise the ramp that norman runs down, and the other pic is what the ramp looks like from the other side where the sea front railway is

Not absolutely definite but pretty sure these scenes were filmed at West Drayton station. The bridge he walks down was filmed at Teignmouth

    Hi there,

I have researched all the locations for Norman Wisdom's Press For Time, but am stuck on where the Mayor's House is. It certainly is across the estuary from Teignmouth and is probably in Shaldon or Ringmore, but does anyone have a clue?

    Regards

    Simon

The house is in Shaldon Road. If you head out of Shaldon, towards Coombe Cellars, it’s the last house on the left before you reach Teignharvey Road.

Wow! What a reply. Thanks Alan. I take it you've been there?! I suppose you know the newspaper office in the film is in Beaconsfield?

    Thanks again. Off to Teignmouth!

I’ve driven past the house a few times over the years but had no idea that it was there as I only started looking for it a couple of weeks ago.
I’ve recognised a few locations from the odd bits of the film that I’ve seen (never actually watched it) such as West Drayton station and the bits around Teignmouth seafront, but the parts shot in Beaconsfield I only know from reading what others have found.
To someone who knows Teignmouth, the bus chase looks ridiculous, with it’s complete lack of continuity.
