Sorry to be a pedantic, but Mervyn Johns was not driving a Morgan, it was either a Riley or Wolsley, but I think the former......

I thought it was a Standard 8HP. This was made from 1945 - 1948 and was an update of a prewar model. Available as saloon, tourer, drophead and estate.

Had another look - No, not a Standard!

I can't find any Rileys or Wolseleys that look similar enough to the filmed car. Singer and Rover made likely contenders - but the Singers all seem to have had front-hinged doors and the Rovers had a distinctive triangular badge top centre of the radiator grille. The car in the film has neither.

    Calling all old car buffs...

Wolseley's always had a W mascot on the radiator cap and a badge in the top of the radiator grille that would illuminate when the lights were switched on.

Riley's had a diamond-shaped badge at the top of the grille and the two sides of the grille curved to a point below it.

    How about a Hillman?

    Hi all, great site.

I found it by a link from a motoring site on the subject of identifiying the car - it is a Sunbeam Talbot 10 Tourer of the late '30's.

See..........Classic Car Garage - Sunbeam Talbot

    Hope this helps.

    Best wishes, Al.

Hi guys and gals just want to inform you all about a discovery concerning the film The Dead Of Night 1944.. We are in the middle of updating the website My Beautiful Ealing to which you can all visit My Beautiful Ealing Home - MY BEAUTIFUL EALING

OK the discovery, Well we have nailed really about everything in this film but one matter concerning the Park Clinic that Mr Granger is seen leaving after his unfortunate racing accident. Well we are thrilled to announce that the location used or the building used in this scene is in Fact Ravenscourt Park Hospital Hammersmith London. We are doing a feature on this.. The actual topic has been posted on the website but the video is still yet to go up.

Just thought many of you might like to know!
    All the bestCC

Is that the club where the golfing sequence takes place in Goldfinger? Also seen in Otley.

I had a shufti at the website and some of the picture links have gone AWOL. I was looking at the Went the Day Well? pages and there are quite a few with a warning message from Webs - Make a free website, get free hosting. Is there anything that can be done?

HI there Nick and everyone!! Ok let me explain about the website.. Firstly i was not at all happy considering this site costs me money to run it that i had ads slapped all over it and for some reason lost some of the content on there.
However the site was due for a slight make over. Now what has been decided is that all the locations on different films are put to video instead. This means at the moment the site is a little all over the place as certain parts are updated. There are at the moment or will be shortly 4 videos going up on the site. Two dealing with The Halfway House and Two dealing with The Dead Of Night. Went The Day Well is going to follow so that is why there might be pictures missing. To be quite honest this was the first website i had ever set up and was a bit keen to get as much on there as possible but found myself not knowing where X, or Y had gone, so it was due for a big sort out. I do intend at some point in building a more professional site but at the moment just don't have the time. Keep an Eye out for the Went The Day Well Vids these coming up in just under a weeks time maybe quicker? Plus we are doing some more hopefully during the summer, better quality pictures and maybe some more video.. But for me now Both the Halfway House and The Dead Of Night projects are finally complete How many other Ealing films do we need to know the locations for? Anyone else doing any location hunting if so let me know, because i might be interested in tagging along hehehe!!

Hey there Al that's weird i came to the same type of car exactly the same thing i came up with.. However the guy who gets married who is the keen Golfer you see a car which is being driven back presume from the wedding i have been trying to find out what car this is? But then i did not want to go down that road pardon the pun otherwise it means identifying really every car in all of these films.. but this one was out of curiosity really..
Upon slowing this peice of film down the driver of the vehicle is wearing thick rimmed glasses. As well as the actor who is sitting in the trunk its only this one guy in the car, in actual fact its supposed to be the wedded couple.. Well there is something else to get your teeth into..
