It's a quite a long time since I last saw this film, but I do remember some of it was shot in the lovely village of Hambleden. I think they used a pub called The Stagg and Huntsman. Hope this is of some help.
I know that parts of this film were shot in Hampstead, Worthing and Goodwood racetrack but does anybody know where the scenes set in the country when Miranda Richardson is abandoned sitting in the car while Rupert Everett drinks with his mother and posh friends were filmed.
Looks as if it may have been Buckinghamshire.

This is the pub just over the road from Hampstead Heath station where Ruth Ellis shot her lover:

I can't recall whether this was a location in Dance With A Stranger or not.

Hambleden must be the village, have passed through it and remember it as being very attractive, thanks.
The Magdala tavern has a plaque on it commemorating the shooting. I'm not sure without watching again whether the scene in the film was filmed in the actual location. The pub itself is rather run down these days.
I do admire films like this which manage to recreate the 50s and 60s using real locations.
The outside is a bit shabby but it's a reasonable *local* pub inside:The Magdala tavern has a plaque on it commemorating the shooting. I'm not sure without watching again whether the scene in the film was filmed in the actual location. The pub itself is rather run down these days. .

One reviewer on the above site writes:
"It does have an atmosphere which seems to send you back a few years-when Britain had a (black & white) film industry perhaps......something to do with the pub layout (Not because Jack Hawkins is sitting at the bar with a G & T)...."

Yesterday, for the first time I checked out The Magdala pub in Hampstead where Ruth Ellis killed her boyfriend.
It's a great pub, very well maintained but I was surprised that it wasn't actually THE on used as a location in Dance With A Stranger, which I watched about 2 weeks ago.
Does anybody know where the pub used for the shooting in the film is? It's obviously not The Magadala but it does look Hampstead/Highgate-ish?
Any info much appreciated, thanks.
