There's also the speed trap scene but the only location I know is the finale at Brooklands.
That's the only location listed on IMdb and there's nothing on here:-Originally Posted by DB7

Interesting to see these stills. I wish I could identify any of the locations shown; likely perhaps that the suburban looking scenes would have been near to the studio where the film was made?

I grabbed this scene and it looks like Constance Higby estate agents. On the off-chance I fired 'Higby Estate Agents' into Google and it threw up: Billinghurst Higby Chard in Esher. Just a stones throw from Brooklands. Surely a coincidence?

Nice bit of detective work there, would think it made sense to shoot scenes wherever possible in a general area. Maybe someone in Surrey/S W London area can identify the others, that country lane may have changed a bit over the years though.

The 'Liverpool Street' bus is traveling along Hare Lane in Claygate, Esher, KT10, just before you get to The Parade on the right.
Nice one.Originally Posted by 45doyle

And an early sighting of Doctor Who in the third picture down. Do you think it was a young Billy Hartnell helping the three policemen to apprehend the headless horseman?

Hi 45doyleOriginally Posted by 45doyle
Are you absolutely sure about that? I know Claygate very well, and in the 1960's Constance Higby estate agents were in a very distinctive white building at the end of The Parade, at a 45 degree angle to Hare Lane. There was no sign like the one in the picture - all may have changed a great deal since the 1930's of course.
Why do you think Hare Lane?

The bus garage where they steal the bus from is reputed to be Mortlake which was in Avondale Rd, Mortlake.
Hi Rob;
Pretty sure I'm right....

That looks spot on Doyle, quite fascinating to see how it looks now - not very different either.
Any ideas on the country lane where you see the semi and other houses in the distance? Same area?
Shaun
Thanks 45doyle, I agree sure looks correct. In your pic, Constance Higby estate agents were (in the past at least) in the flat roofed building on the corner of the Parade and Hare Lane (with the white parapet, just visible behind your overlaid mini-pic of the film scene.
That building is still an estate agents today. I'm still slightly curious why Higby's were being advertised on the opposite side of Hare Lane in the 1930's
Impressive work, thanks!

The London streets are (I think):
George Street, W1
New Bond Street, W1
Sadly I have little to go on with the 'lane' locations....but would have thought somewhere around Esher, Surrey, or one of the lanes into Claygate itself.
