somewhere where any fan of british films [ like ourselves ] would instantly understand where they are and the connection to the film . has to be the get carter car park in gateshead ,i really cant think of anywhere else as iconic . well done gateshead council for instead of doing something with it just putting it on the condemned list

How about Beachy Head at the end of Quadrophenia David? At least they can't condemn them . . . or can they??

Well, I've parked there quite a few times and it must be even more god-forsaken now than back then! I can appreciate its iconic status but can understand the council.

Now, if anything were to happen to Oakworth Station I really would be up in arms

Again, another mainly set bound film. Fellini re-created a large city centre Rome piazza complete with restaurants with alfresco eating bars and shops etc and even tram rails that has a red tram passing by in the background. All of that was on the backlot at Cinecitta Studios on the outskirts of Rome. Its beautifully done and brilliantly evokes the atmosphere of Rome.

PORTMEIRION - The (now) instantly recognisable home of THE PRISONER...

(T.V., I know, but shot on film by film directors and crews.)

Yes, I know I'm stretching a point there somewhat...

I live my life by Doctor Who locations (what? like you lot can judge!) so I'm thrilled that I have to go through Marylebone Station regularly (where Geoffrey Palmer collapsed with the Silurian plague) and the Tower of London will forever be the new UNIT HQ. I usedto go on courses in the school (indeed the very room) where Sylvester McCoy doscovered that Daleks really can climb stairs. And I can't walk past St Pauls without checking there's no Cybermen climbing the stairs.
