Does anyone know where this Anthony Quayle/Cliff Richard late 50s movie was located. It looks like a mixture of town and village. Also I noticed LT bus stops in some frames.

The main street scenes have a look of Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire about them, I drove through there on the old A40 a few weeks ago and the buildings were very similar, it's definitely 'London Country' as was area as an RF type bus is seen passing through.

I think you may be right Mark - and if it's not Beaconsfield, Amersham is nagging at the back of my brain...

    Hi,

The location for this movie is Old Town Stevenage, not Beaconsfield or Amersham. I live there and have just watched this film and recognise the locations in detail. This certainly applies to all the outdoor scenes except for Mary's death scene. Mary's death could have been shot in Stevenage New Town, but can't identify where. The map of Greater London bus routes in the bus shelter that Larry was in does not rule this out, as Stevenage buses were run by London Transport at the time.

Definitely Stevenage Old Town up by the bowling green and the bus shelter scene is at the bus station in the New Town.
