More details about what promises to be a great weekend for film buffs:-
Malcolm Arnold Festival 2010

I've just recieved the latest Arnold Society newsletter which gives details of this years Arnold Festival to be held on 16/17th October this year. Although plans are at an early stage it already looks like a treat for any film music buffs - the festivals main theme will be 'Stage and Screen' with the hopes of one 'very exciting celebrity from the silver screen' to launch the festival (subject to negotiations).
There are plans to have an illustrated talk on Arnold's film music by composer Martin Ellerby who worked with Arnold.
The weekend will also feature the premier of 'Fantasy on Whistle down the wind' -a commisioned work being composed by Matthew Taylor especially for the weekend.
A St Trinians event will be held on the Sunday to celebrate the 50th anniversary of 'The pure hell of St Trinians' which will include some of the original actors and crew!
The Gala concert at the end of the weekend will include not only Sir Malcolm's film music but also the music of William Alwyn.
There will also be a mixture of Arnold's other works throughout the weekend.
Plans are 'going well' but still at an early stage - I'll try and update when I hear any more details.
Ben
