I was watching the Vera Lynn 1943 musical, "Rhythm Serenade" last night - great transfer from Sony, by the way - and the first song "I Love To Sing" had me wondering where I had heard it before? I feel sure it's a French original, but can't for the life of me find out who originally sung it (or maybe recorded it after Vera's film was made?).

Any help from you guys out there?

    Thanks

    Alistair

Thanks, Brief Encounter, for that. I did reckon it was by Paul Misraki - and feel sure I have heard it sung in French in the past - will have to search through my CDs to find out who the singer was!

Answering my own question - I searched through my CD collection and found out that the song is called "Qu'est-ce qu'on attend pour être heureux" and I have a recording of it by Ray Ventura et Ses Collegiens. It's from a French film called "Feu De Joie" (1938) and, as Brief Encounter pointed out, written by Paul Misraki. Now I can rest easy!
