Starring Frank Sinatra, almost, the real star is the title music that accompanies the film.
A chart hit in 1955, I still have the 45rpm. One of those iconic tunes that sticks to the movie like glue. Friday BBC2, so no breaks, 12.20am so set the video. Powerful music.

Incidentally, off subject as it is the film not the music, there is another really good BW movie from 1948 Thursday 12.40pm Film 4 Call Northside 777. Does not get too many airings and worth a look.

But The Man With The Golden Arm is good film music, I can hear the sticks on the cymbals now and the band coming in to set the mood. Unforgettable.

What a Bond movie that could have been.
