imagesCAWBPPIF.jpgI listened to beautiful (and) rare 10" Lp by Ron Goodwin: 'Music To Set You Dreaming' on Parlophone (PMD 1038) from 1956.
They are nearly all film scores:

    I'll Remember April
    All The Things You Are
    The Way You Look Tonight
The Last Time I Saw Paris
    Easy To Love
    **************
    Smoke Gets In Your Eyes
    It's A Lovely Tomorrow *
    It Can't Be Wrong*
    Skylark *
    As Time Goes By

The ones with an asterik are especially good!

You can see why post-war easy listening/orchestral was very very comforting after enduring six traumatic years!

Well found 'scenesixty' a brilliant LP. I met Ron many times when he came to the BBC for interviews...one of the nicest men you could wish to meet.I was at one of his last sessions in London, when he was recording mood music for TV Shows (my 'Pension money' he said). He had just arrived by bus...and mentioned that he had heard a ring tone playing 633 Squadron...he was most upset that he hadn't been asked permission for its use and was about to get onto the phone company! Such a pity we haven't put this guy on a pedestal...one of the greatest composers of British Film Music.

Thankyou for your kind words Film Man; I have many of Ron's Lp's including the Gold (stereo) Lp 'Serenade' (Parophone 1961) which includes the stirring and rousing 'Serenade To A Double Scotch' (superb recording) and the lush 'Elizabethan Serenade' : Superb listening pleasure!
