    633 Squadron for me followed by Lawrence of Arabia and The Bridge At Remagen which always sounds to me as if it could be equally at home in a western.

    The Great Escape and Where Eagles Dare are my two favourite war film themes ...
    with The Great Escape just ahead.
    Here is a compilation by the City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra ...

    not as good as the original soundtrack music but still quite good.
